Education: A Home Base

Included in the renovation is a new Eddie C. and C. Sylvia Brown Education Center that will provide dedicated classroom and office space and significantly increase the number of students we serve each year. Expanded after-school programs, summer camp, and community classes will all be part of the mix. The suite will be located on the fourth floor, in close proximity to the reimagined Head theater, allowing the Eddie C. and C. Sylvia Brown Education Department to easily dovetail their programming with the work that is on stage. Contributing to the greater Baltimore community is central to our mission. Each year, we offer more than 25 award-winning programs, including the annual state-wide Young Playwrights Festival, the Student Matinee Series, and our Camp Center Stage. The theater’s community and education programs currently serve more than 13,500 Baltimoreans of all ages every year—but we can do more. Every year our goals and ambitions are greater than our available resources. Whether it’s increasing capacity for our summer camps or offering a family series, our space constraints have made it challenging to fulfill the demand that exists in the community.
